01.10.2010 INNOVATIVE PARALLEL TWIN-SCREW EXTRUSION LINES FROM HIGH TECH EXTRUSION SETS NEW TECHNOLOGICAL AND ERGONOMIC STANDARDS
At the end of October, High Tech Extrusion will be presenting the completely new innovative extrusion line OMNIA at the “K 2010” in Dusseldorf, the world’s largest trade fair for plastics. This extrusion facility, in which all components are perfectly synchronized with each other, impresses with its higher productivity, a higher level of reliability and greater efficiency, and thus reduces the production costs of the user.
High Tech Extrusion, to which the companies Theysohn, Technoplast, Topf and Extruder-Komponenten Salzgitter belong, is an “all-in-one” provider which has developed a unique series of extrusion lines consisting of five different models, featuring a parallel twin-screw extruder, a new tooling concept, a new type of calibration table and a haul-off/guillotine combination. The product development process innovatively fuses the aspects of productivity, reliability and efficiency. “The all-in-one solution ensures the compatibility of all components throughout the entire installation. For the customers, this means the individual components of the extrusion line are optimally synchronized with respect to process engineering. This significantly reduces the production costs of our customers, who will thus be able to generate major cost savings”, says Xaver Gruber, Managing Director of High Tech Extrusion.
Productivity, reliability, efficiency
Based on the renowned Theysohn extruders, a range of extruders has been developed which stand out due to their further enhanced performance and improved energy efficiency. The tried and tested Theysohn-Torque-Master gearbox has been further upgraded and now requires even less operating power. Five performance classes with twin screw diameters of 74 to 137 mm and lengths of 28 and 32D cover PVC profile and pipe manufacturing up to an output range of 1,480 kg/h. The facility guarantees additional energy savings due to the insulation of cylinder heating, the integration of axial ventilators in the extruder, the use of frequency controlled pumps in the vacuum system and the closed water cycle in the calibration table, which minimizes the contamination of the cooling water in order to increase the surface quality of the profile and minimize the volume of plastics scraps. Permanently lubricated chains in the haul-off prevent the profile from being contaminated by oil, and a specially mounted blade in the extruder guillotine has been designed to prevent the feared blade breakage.
All units in the extrusion equipment are optimally synchronized with each other, and can thus be operated from the control panel located on the extruder. A quick tool changing system for profile tools enables the quickest possible replacement of tools and is much less prone to defects due to the reduction in the number of hose fittings. The tool is only linked to the extruder through a wire harness containing the power cable and the senor cable and by means of multipole connectors. In turn, this prevents defective cable connections, and together with the quick exchange of tools helps increase the productive time. Finally, the newly developed High Tech Extrusion Stream-Liner pipe head ensures a minimal drop in melting pressure thanks to a new type of spider design. This has the purpose of achieving a low longitudinal wave of the pipes, resulting in material savings during production and lower excess weight.
Amortization within a short time
The newly developed OMNIA extrusion lines manufactured by High Tech Extrusion help producers of PVC profiles and pipes to reduce downtime, save considerable amounts of energy and minimize scraps based on a significant improvement in operability. Comparative tests with an extrusion line in which the individual components originate from different suppliers have demonstrated that a new extrusion line from High Tech Extrusion will pay for itself within a period of two years when taking account of these three key cost factors.
High Tech Extrusion
